The Mysticum beers are no gimmick, but our new inhouse brand. So, who is Mysticum and why do they collaborate with us, a small Belgian brewery? Mysticum is a Norwegian black metal band founded back in 1991. With their unique blend of programmed drums, synths and samples they invented the sub genre Industrial Black Metal. Back then nobody had ever heard anything alike it. It was something completely fresh and new. Having the unique position as founders of a musical genre Mysticum became inspirators to generations of metal bands since then. So, what does it has to do with Belgian Beers you may ask? Well, just as Norwegians are famous for standing next to the devil through their black metal, Belgians do the same through their beers, having brands such as Satan, Duvel, Lucifer and Judas to name a few. In spring 2015, our brewery was contacted by the band’s manager Mathias Løken. Bringing with him a genuine devotion for Belgian beers he had the brilliant idea of melting the two phenomenons together in order to create something extraordinary. And so we did! Now we offer you the best of two worlds. This is 100% Belgian artisanal beer, brewed with the deepest passion, true to our heritage, but also blended with the madness of Mysticum.  Insanity in a bottle!
Nice to know is the fact that Bryggja is an Old-Norwegian word. It means harbour and from this word the town Brugge (Bruges) got its name. Perhaps the collaboration between our brewery and the band was predestined?
